Morecambe Bay cockling disaster
Not that it affects or influences my work directly, but there is this sense of poetic (yet tragic) layering with Morecambe bay's cockle picking incident over 10 years ago. There is this eerie sense of being there when the tide comes in as it moves extremely quickly - I noticed this when I did the tidal drawing (see previous blog post on drawing the tide where you can see in the video footage). Knowing about this disaster that happened years ago adds to the experience of drawing there, especially when working at night - the darkness makes everything feel more uneasy.
